Die neunte Tafel / Nineth tablet

Gilgamesch beginnt seine Suche nach der Unsterblichkeit
und kommt zum Zwillingsberg mit den Skorpion-Wächtern
Gilgamesch kleidet sich in Felle und macht sich auf die Suche nach Uta-napischti.
Dieser ist der einzige Mensch, dem von den Göttern die Unsterblichkeit gewährt
wurde. Uta-napischti ist der babylonische Noah. Gilgamesch will von ihm wissen,
wie er die Unsterblichkeit erlangte. Gilgamesch kommt zuerst zum Berg "Der Zwilling",
dessen Gipfel den Himmel tragen. Er wird von Skorpionmenschen bewacht (IX, 37-47).

Gilgamesh is clothed in skins and begins his search for Uta-napishti. This is the only person to
whom immortality was granted by the gods. Uta-napischti is the Babylonian Noah.
Gilgamesh wants to ask him how he achieved immortality. Gilgamesh first comes
to the mountain "The Twin", its summit carries the sky. It is guarded by scorpion-men.
