Die Überfahrt über die Wasser des Todes
Gilgamesch und Ur-schanabi steigen ins Boot. Eine Stange nach der anderen schlucken
die Wasser des Todes. Als sie aufgebraucht sind, setzt Ur-schanabi seine Kleider als Segel
ein bis sie Uta-napischti, den babylonischen Noah, erreichen. (X, 169-183).

The crossing over the waters of death
Gilgamesh and Ur-shanabi get into the boat. The waters of death swallow
one poking rod after the other. When they are depleted, Ur-shanabi sets
his clothes as sail until they reach Uta-napishti, the Babylonian Noah.
