Das Gleichnis vom Schilfrohr
Uta-napischti sagt: "Die Menschheit, deren Sproß (stets) abgemäht ist,
einem Schilfrohr aus dem Sumpfe gleich, den schönen jungen Mann, das
schöne junge Mädchen, geschwinde raubt in ihrer vollen Blüte sie der Tod!"… (X, 301-322).

The Parable of the reed
Uta-napishti says: "Mankind, whose scion (always) is mowed,
like a reed out of the swamp, the handsome young man, the beautiful
young girl, quickly the death robs them in their full bloom!"
